With the anticipated move-in date to our new Spine Road campus less than a year away, Watershed is working this year on two fronts – first and foremost with our 2023-24 school year here on Alpine Ave. as well as with renovation planning and execution. We’ll be posting regular updates throughout the school year and into the summer.
Work with the Architects
Watershed School has been working with Caddis Architects, led by Watershed parent, Stephen Eckert P’23, ‘27, on renovation plans at Spine Road. Watershed will soon have a home for our art, science, and technology classes in the 5400 Spine Rd. space and for the humanities, language, and math in the 5405 building. Architectural renderings of these classroom spaces are in the carousel below as are the general floor plans for the two buildings.
September Volunteer Work Day
We held our first volunteer work day at Watershed's new campus on Spine Rd! Thirteen volunteers, more than 2000 ceiling tiles removed, an estimated $2,000 saved in labor costs, roughly 1,600 tiles saved for reuse, and invaluable community building. Check out the video clip below and thank you, crew: Eaton, Chris, Josie, Jeff, Joseph, Julie, Kari, Kevin, Lyra, Morgan, Stellan, Stephen, & Tim! More volunteer opportunities to come!

Collaboration with CU Boulder
University of Colorado Teaching Professor and Watershed Parent, Jade Polizzi P’23, ‘27, approached Watershed with an exciting partnership opportunity- to work with her architecture students on a design-build project for the new campus! After thoroughly researching Watershed’s mission, vision and program, visiting us at Alpine Ave., touring the new campus buildings, and talking with Watershed’s lead architect, Stephen Eckert, CU students pitched their project ideas to a group of Watershed staff, board committee members, and students. Together, the group narrowed the project down to a stunning and needed acoustical treatment and wayfinding project in the 5400 building. The final design will be approved within a week and construction will begin soon. Watch social media for updates.
Art Class Collaboration
Led by Chris Carithers, Director of Academics & Community Partnerships, Watershed art students are working on a mosaics project for our new campus! The class will work with Watershed’s Board of Trustees Interior Design Committee and our architect to solidify the location and design. This project is just getting started and will go through the 2023-24 academic year. Be on the lookout for updates!
There’s a lot of excitement here at Watershed as we get our new space ready- clearly the wheels are turning!
