Welcome Andrew, Haley, and Stacy!

We are so excited to welcome three new full-time educators to Watershed this year. Meet (or reintroduce yourself to) Andrew, Stacy, and Haley!

Returning to Watershed after teaching for the past three years at the American School of Barcelona is Andrew Chernow! Andrew originally joined Watershed School in 2015 as a science educator, and we are excited to welcome him back to teach both science and math in the Upper School this year. Prior to coming to Watershed, Andrew taught at both public and private schools in Albuquerque, NM. Raised in Boulder, Andrew earned his B.S. in physics from the University of Colorado, followed later by a Master’s degree in Secondary Science Education at the University of New Mexico. During his time in New Mexico, Andrew became an expert in Project Based Learning and traveled the country to coach teachers on how to shift their pedagogy to a more student-centered, authentic learning environment. Andrew’s passions include backpacking, telemark skiing in the backcountry, spending late June in Telluride for the BlueGrass Festival, exploring different cultures, cooking, and his book club of over 10 years.

Also joining us permanently after spending last year as a long term substitute at Watershed is Spanish & humanities educator Haley Schreier! Haley was born and raised in Wisconsin. She received a B.A. in Women's and Gender Studies and Race and Ethnic Studies from St. Olaf College. During her summers, Haley led backpacking excursions for young women in the Rocky Mountains with Sanborn Western Camps. After graduation, Haley backpacked for several months in southeast Asia before settling into Melbourne, Australia for a year. She eventually relocated to Costa Rica where she taught yoga and mindfulness classes in Gandoca Manzanillo National Forest. Before relocating to Colorado and joining the Watershed team, Haley also taught and guided at the Tahoe Expedition Academy, California for four years.

Finally, we are excited to welcome Stacy Howard as full-time Watershed educator after having been a regular substitute teacher for us last year. Stacy will be teaching middle school humanities and athletics, wellness, and leadership. Stacy received her B.A. in English and Communications from the University of Denver and her M.A. in Social Emotional Learning from National University. Her teaching career began in Montessori education, most recently serving as an SEL Specialist in the private school sector in Boulder County for the last three years. Stacy grew up in Loveland and is happy to be back on the Front Range raising her own two children. After spending ten years in southern California working as a graphic designer and high school basketball coach, Stacy eventually made her way back to Colorado. She loves reading, sunshine, gardening, DIY, and hanging out with her kiddos and dog Theo. Stacy has traveled internationally to The Philippines, Ireland, France, Italy, Canada, the Galapagos Islands, and Mexico, and looks forward to adding to that list as her kids grow into travel!

We’re thrilled that we have these amazing folks joining our team of Watershed educators for the new school year. You can learn more about Andrew, Haley, and Stacy on our Faculty & Staff page!
