December Update: Watershed’s Campus

Committee work, a CU collaboration project, tours, a grandparent giving challenge- oh my! There’s been a lot of activity at Watershed’s new campus since the last update in early fall. Read on.

Installation of CU’s Design Build Project

The acoustical treatment and wayfinding project in the 5400 building pitched to Watershed by upper-level architecture students at University of Colorado has been installed! It looks great and the sound dampening impact is obvious. Take a look at the video below created by the CU students that explains the project. Watershed is grateful to the students, their professor, Jade Polizzi, P’23, ’27 and Watershed architect, Stephen Eckert, P’23, ’27 for the thoughtful process that characterized this project from beginning to end, all of their hard work, and the fantastic end result!

Committee Work

Continuing on the theme of gratitude, Watershed would not be where it is right now without hours and hours of work from various board committees and working groups. Organized by Watershed’s Board of Trustees and composed of board members, Watershed staff, current parents, alumni, and parents of alumni, each working group and committee has been critical to the successful acquisition of our new campus and will continue to be vital throughout the upcoming renovation process. A huge shout-out to the board’s Site Committee, Advancement & Events Committee and Interior Design, Landscape, and Technology Working Groups.

Tours!

Knowing that renovations will begin in earnest in January, Watershed recently offered tours of the new campus to current families, prospective families, and staff. We offered three tour dates and times in early December and were thrilled that more than 75 people were able to attend. In addition, a number of alumni, alumni parents, and friends of the school have toured the two buildings. If you’re interested in walking through, but haven’t had an opportunity to do so yet, please contact Julie, Director of Development & Communications: julie.yates@watershedschool.org to arrange a visit.

Grandparent Giving Challenge for the New Campus

“Two of our grandchildren are attending Watershed and we couldn’t be more pleased. Small class sizes and meaningful, supportive connections with their teachers and peers are the main reasons they love Watershed, but the school offers so much more. We’ve seen them grow as students and as people through the real-world learning of expeditionary courses that combine disciplines, the local fieldwork, and the amazing May Term courses they take. We’re excited to support Watershed’s campaign both to strengthen the school for our grandchildren and to ensure that the Watershed experience can be brought to even more students for generations to come. Watershed teaches students to love learning and to apply their learning in the world while maintaining high-level academics.” — Watershed Grandparents

These Watershed grandparents have issued a Grandparent Giving Challenge in support of Watershed’s new campus! They will match, dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000, gifts given by other Watershed grandparents in support of Waterhshed’s new campus.
