Teachers often lead richly textured lives outside of the classroom and Joie Le, Ph.D., Watershed humanities educator, is certainly no exception! In addition to raising a family, co-founding and heading a nonprofit called Friends of the Lakota Nation, doing visual arts work, and teaching at Watershed, Joie is pursuing her third Master’s degree. This summer, Joie expects to complete an MFA in creative nonfiction.
As part of her degree work, Joie pitched her writing to various outlets for publication. Recently, two of her memoir selections were published in the literary journal ANMLY. Reflecting on her recently published work, Joie says, “It can be validating to finally have a voice in a conversation that is increasingly complex. It took me years to submit my work for publication, but at this point in my life, I feel that sharing the nuances of my lived experiences can be truly educational.”
You can read Joie’s published memoir selections in ANMLY here.
Joie will be holding a visual arts show at a pop-up art studio in downtown Denver on July 29, 2022. Her art installation will also be included in her final MFA work.
