Question: Were you born and raised in Boulder?
Harrison Fell: Yes, I have lived in Boulder my entire life.

Q: What prompted you to make the shift from Centennial Middle School to attending Watershed and did you look at other schools?
HF: I switched to Watershed mainly because of COVID, so I could do in-person learning which is way more fun than online learning. I looked at Dawson but it didn’t appeal to me as much and Watershed is four blocks from my house.

Q: Watershed is a different type of education, what do you like about it?
HF: There is more personalization with the smaller class sizes so if someone falls behind, the teacher really notices.

Q: Did you know anybody who went to Watershed before you started attending?
HF: I knew one person and since I’ve started going I’ve made a bunch of new friends.

Q: What did you think about the expedition at the beginning of the year?

HF: We went to Golden Gate State Park and I think the idea is really cool because you get to know the teachers after being with them for the entire trip. And I got to know a lot of new people, on that trip I made around ten new friends. The food was great and even though the hike was  ten miles, it was really fun!

Q: What is your favorite subject at school?
HF: My favorite subject is probably animation. Right now I’m doing text animation to a song.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?
HF: I really enjoy being outside and I also enjoy learning new stuff on computers and any tech stuff.

Q: What is something unusual or quirky that people at Watershed might not already know about you?
HF: I’m very accident prone, I broke thirteen bones between first and third grades. The first bone I broke was my collar bone then I broke my ankle just walking on the playground and a week later I sprained the other ankle getting off the toilet! I’ve broken my right ankle six times!

Q: What is your favorite thing about Watershed?
HF: My favorite thing about Watershed is the community.

Q: What was your favorite COVID pastime during the full-on quarantine?
HF: As you can probably guess, it revolved around computers. I like to play video games including virtual reality ones, like Beat Saber.

Q: Who is your favorite musician?
HF: Diamond Eyes, it’s electronic music.

Q: What was the first concert you ever went to?
HF: Who was it? Michael somebody…Michael Franti!

Q: Do you have anything fun coming up?
HF: I’m going to Arizona to visit my grandparents for the four-day weekend between the first and second quarters.

Q: Do you have siblings or pets?
HF: I have a younger brother and we have a cat named Shadow who is the definition of a scaredy-cat, she will hide unless you have food.

Q: Are you going trick-or-treating?
HF: If there is trick-or-treating, then yes. All children have a right to trick-or-treat, it’s part of growing up!

Q: What did you pick to do for your expedition class?
HF: I picked All About Bikes. We’re learning the history of bikes, the importance of bikes in society, and about the time bikes started being made during the Industrial Revolution. For our field trips we did a fun bike ride around Boulder and also went to Wonderland Lake to try out wheelchairs and assisted bikes that paraplegics use so we could feel how they experience biking.
