Positive Activism Project

To help strengthen the bonds that unite our community and lift those facing isolation and fatigue during COVID-19, Watershed’s May Term community outreach project connected students with local elderly residents at the Frasier Meadows retirement community and healthcare workers. The project provided an opportunity for students to practice activism framed in the positive by focusing on adding to the good rather than subtracting from the bad.

Letter Writing To Promote Connection

Students engaged with community members through letter writing providing unprompted words of comfort and kindness and thanks to those who risk so much to put others in front of themselves. The project was as rewarding for the student participants as it was uplifting to those they connected with.
