Visitation Opportunities

Information Sessions are the first step in the process of coming to know Watershed School. At an Information Session, you will meet staff, students, and current parents, learn about Watershed School’s innovative approach to education from the Head of School, and get answers to your questions. Information Sessions are scheduled from 12:00noon-1:00pm, and typically last 45-minutes to 1-hour. Although students are welcome, Information Sessions are ideal for parents, and we look forward to setting up a “Shadow Day” for prospective students to experience our program firsthand. All sessions will address our Middle and High School programs except for the High School (ONLY) evening in November; which will focus specifically on our HS program (parents and students are encouraged to attend this event).

The Open House/Program Preview starts with our standard Information Session, but provides the additional opportunity to experience a mini-lesson from one of our educators. Open Houses typically last 1 1/2-hours. It is appropriate, and recommended for students to attend the Open House/Program Preview. We will have hands on activities, during the mini lessons,  for students & parents.

Student Shadow days are an excellent way for prospective students to spend a half or full day at Watershed School, attending regular classes, meeting students and staff, and getting firsthand experience with the program. Shadow days are a required component of each applicant. Students interested in actively pursuing the application process should schedule an individual interview for the end of their Shadow Day experience; interviews typically last 20-30 minutes.

F.A.I.R. - The Festival of the Arts and Intellectual Reflection is a celebration of learning that allows students to reflect, analyze and synthesize their coursework from the semester. Students work collaboratively to design the format of their FAIR presentations and take full ownership of the planning, design and execution of the presentations. The students grapple with how best to teach what they know and to engage a diverse audience in understanding and examining the essential question that underpinned their studies. Open to the public.
